Our beginnings
Switch2Zero is the brainchild of experienced fintech specialists Ian Ormerod and Tom Rochester, who met while working in banking. Over the last twelve months, our rapidly expanding team of dedicated optimists has worked towards a common goal- making it easy and affordable to offset your carbon footprint.
Our Philosophy
The time for change is now, and any action is better than none. We want to help people in every stage of their carbon offset journey- whether taking the first step to reducing their footprint or fully ready to transition to a Net-Zero lifestyle or business model- by offering the resources and opportunities to take control of their climate impact.

Ian Ormerod

Ian left a successful career in banking to focus on what he believes is the challenge of our lifetime - climate change. As he puts it "if we don't get this right, and quickly, our grandchildren will be living in a world that's barely habitable". Ian specialised in innovation, digital disruption and investing in new businesses on a global scale. He's taking all he's learned and combining this with a growing expertise in sustainability to build pragmatic solutions to get us to net zero. He's also a dreadful singer so a career pivot to rockstar was out!
Tom Rochester

Tom is a respected leader and technology expert with a BSc in Computer Science and over 20 years experience in Financial Services. He specialises in disruptive innovation and delivering global, modular, and cloud native digital platforms, and has been responsible for technical delivery and product ownership at Barclays, Citi and Standard Chartered.
Tom is passionate about open source projects and deploying technology for positive change, leading him to co-found Switch2Zero and focus on climate change with Ian.
Barnaby Collins

Barnaby recently graduated from Durham University with a Master's degree in Computer Science. He is an avid musician, DJ and sound technician, and also has strong interests in sustainability, the circular economy, right to repair and solarpunk culture. Alongside his work on S2Z's software stack, he is our resident expert in cable coiling.
Oliver Hunter

An autodidact by nature, Oliver hasn’t relied solely on his Biomedical Science degree to shape his future but instead has continuously taught himself new skills and used them to make a living throughout his life. He now brings his experience and skill set as a trader, entrepreneur, coder & creative to the holistic practice that is Product Management.
His move into the startup world is driven by his belief that working alongside inspiring, talented people is the best way to create a lasting impact in the world. When not working, he’s developed a slightly unhealthy obsession with chess, he can’t get enough of it!
